2011 Projects

January 2, 2011

Welcoming in the new year with the completion of a wool scarf for a local resident before a two month hiatus to work on some new projects. January and February bring a relief from the day to day commitment of being at the studio to explore other mediums and some teaching. Recently I have been added to the Salt Spring Artists in the Class catalogue. This has me teaching an hour a week art class to Fulford Elementary School Grade 3-4 classroom, see my new blog - Art Kids.
Added to this is training for a 10K run with a gradual 14 week training program of 3 x 45 minute training sessions a week. I hope to complete the run in mid April with my friend Shannon.

On the creative front I will be creating an art piece for a summer exhibit with some fellow SSpring artists with the theme of Memory using salvaged materials. I will be creating a dress sculpture using found textiles that explores identity and memory, will keep you posted

The first day of this monthly blog.

It is June and the visitors have been arriving on Salt Spring since May, a popular month as the island is bursting with buds and greenery. After a quiet winter it is refreshing to see new faces. It means less days at the loom and more days of chat and customers appreciation.

Checked out the website for the Sketchbook project and ordered mine with the topic I am a scavenger. Check it out www.sketchbookproject.

Today Jaime began to weave after spending the last few days dressing the loom.
